An offer I could not refuse!

So I had resigned myself to working out at home and running in the neighborhood. However, I received a flyer promoting a $10 per month gym membership not too far away. I went by the gym to check it out because I was convinced there had to be a catch.

I received a free 7-day pass so I tried it out for a week. I soon learned about the enrollment fee of about $79 (They claimed it was a special at 1/2 of the regular price) and a maintenance fee later in the year of $49. Child care and classes would cost a lot more than $10 per month. I usually hate aerobic classes and I don't have kids so all that a la carte bullshit didn't bother me too much. So with both fees and $10 per month it was cheaper than most gyms.

The guys in the weight room leave the weights on the machines and on the floor but other that that it was a fairly decent gym. I decided to sign up because it was just an offer I could not refuse. I know I said I would purchase anything else fitness related but during that free week I realized I cannot get the high number of calories burned at home. I am glad I am going to gym now. I am more motivated and I can I see how many calories I am burning with each workout.

I'll never give up

No matter how hard things get, I will never give up. I also will never accept my body at this size. I have to admit there are times when I wonder if losing weight or maintaining a significant weight loss will ever be a possibility for me at this stage in my life. I just have to wake up everyday and make sure I burn more calories than I consume.

I am trying my best to eat mostly whole natural (organic when possible)foods. Certain times I have no desire for healthy foods but not very often. I eat very well. I just think I am insulin resistant. The problem is I don't like going too low with my carbs but I know low carbs is best for me.

Physically and mentially tired

I am slowing down and I haven't been burning as many calories as I did in the beginning. I am just going to pull back a little bit instead of taking a break. Once I recharge my batteries, I will go full blast and burn as many calories possible on a daily basis.

I can tell that body is changing even if I don't get on the scale. Each day I am in awe of how hard it is to burn 3000 calories.

Losing weight is a marathon not a sprint

There are weeks when the weight loss is less than the required two pounds but one cannot be discouraged. A loss is a loss even if it is just one pound in a week. I have to think long term and just keep going. I am not in a competition and If I can lose even a pound during my cycle, I will gladly take it. Eveything is good as long as I am not gaining.

Focus

It takes a lot of focus when trying to lose weight if you are over 35. Before I had my gadget I would watch my calorie intake and exercise; however, I am now learning that I need a lot more physical activity to have the calorie deficit I need to lose weight. I am more conscious of what I eat because I now know how long it takes and how hard it is to burn 200 calories. I promise myself that I will not have a calorie surplus, not even for one day even when I reach my goal. When I reach my goal weight I will reduce my deficit but I will never have a surplus.

Hitting my wall

I am definitely at the stage where I want to consume more calories. That certain time of the month where I eat a little more. Hopefully I can increase my activities and recognize when I am not really hungry. Focus on the burn--that's my new mantra or perhaps I should say 'chase the burn'.

One thing I know for sure, I will not spend one single day on a weight gain trend. I will have a calorie deficit as long as I have my gadget. I will always have a calorie deficit.

Responsibility

Calories in and calories out, yes it is that simple. I am glad this is not another fad diet. This is just a tool to show many how many calories I am burning so I can tailor the calories I consume to get the desired weight loss results.
I am still responsible for diet and exercise. There is simply no getting around it. I have to be responsible.
