Losing weight is a marathon not a sprint

There are weeks when the weight loss is less than the required two pounds but one cannot be discouraged. A loss is a loss even if it is just one pound in a week. I have to think long term and just keep going. I am not in a competition and If I can lose even a pound during my cycle, I will gladly take it. Eveything is good as long as I am not gaining.

Focus

It takes a lot of focus when trying to lose weight if you are over 35. Before I had my gadget I would watch my calorie intake and exercise; however, I am now learning that I need a lot more physical activity to have the calorie deficit I need to lose weight. I am more conscious of what I eat because I now know how long it takes and how hard it is to burn 200 calories. I promise myself that I will not have a calorie surplus, not even for one day even when I reach my goal. When I reach my goal weight I will reduce my deficit but I will never have a surplus.

Hitting my wall

I am definitely at the stage where I want to consume more calories. That certain time of the month where I eat a little more. Hopefully I can increase my activities and recognize when I am not really hungry. Focus on the burn--that's my new mantra or perhaps I should say 'chase the burn'.

One thing I know for sure, I will not spend one single day on a weight gain trend. I will have a calorie deficit as long as I have my gadget. I will always have a calorie deficit.

Responsibility

Calories in and calories out, yes it is that simple. I am glad this is not another fad diet. This is just a tool to show many how many calories I am burning so I can tailor the calories I consume to get the desired weight loss results.
I am still responsible for diet and exercise. There is simply no getting around it. I have to be responsible.

Miss my spring dresses

I used to love wearing spring dresses with denim jacket this time of year. I haven't done so in a while because I refuse to buy the larger sizes. I have a lot of dresses I would like to wear again. I am very frustrated at times but I have to stay the course.
I have to work three times as hard as I did in my twenties just to lose approximately 2 lbs per week. If I didn't have this gadget I would have put back on all the weight I lost so far. It was a never-ending cycle gaining and losing 5 - 8 lbs. Thank goodness for Bodymedia. This gadget is worth every penny.

Harder than it looks...

Day 4
Current weight: 190.4
Weight loss: 1 lb
Total Weight loss: 4.4 lbs

I am very happy with the way things are going so far. I am trying not to sit for too long at the computer and I try to break up my workouts throughout the day. I am averaging about 2 hrs of moderate to vigorous activity, I have to give a little more. If I can get another hour of activity, I can lose just a little more per day.
I have to get back into the 5:00AM mode where I can walk\jog and at least get the most of my steps requirements out of the way. I also have to inch my way closer and closer to 1200 calories per day.

Inside the numbers

I started today with a total body boot camp style workout which lasted 40 minutes. I used to think that this workout burns 350 to 500 calories but I was surprised to see that I only burned 200 calories. There were times when this would be my only workout of the day but I am learning it takes so much more. I weighed after my first workout and was very happy to see that I lost 2 lbs. At first I didn't understand why the weight loss number was higher than expected in the mornings, but when I added the previous days deficit to the calorie burn up to the weigh in, the number on the scale is justified.

The biggest change in my life right now is that I am alert and weight loss is always at the forefront of my mind. I am not trying to deprive myself, but if I want to know if I can afford to have that extra 1/4 cup of brown rice (or any food for that matter)I just look at my watch and check my calorie burn.

First full day

I got out of bed excited today. I did Insanity Pure Cardio for about 40 minutes then got on the scale. According to the scale I lost 1.4lbs. In order to lose 1 lb per day I would have to have a deficit of 3,500 calories. My deficit yesterday was only 1,873 calories. I will keep an eye on these numbers. The system will not let me enter a target deficit of more that 1,000 calories, which is the daily deficit one should have for a safe weight loss of 2 lbs per week. I would love to lose more than 2 lbs per week but reaching the deficit required is really hard. I have a new found respect for what the contestants go through on a daily basis. I worked out for over two hours and my calorie burn was 3,300.

I would like to slowly reduce my calorie intake. My daily target is set to 1,500 calories but ideally it should be set to 1,200. I get really hungry when I consume only 1,200 calories and I have to incorporate some protein shakes to achieve that number. I will shoot for 1,200 and see how I feel throughout the day.

Hallelujah!

My miracle arrived this morning at 11:25AM. I actually waited for the mailman and ran out to meet him. I had already studied the manuals online and knew exactly what to do; however, I took what seemed like eternity to remove the strap\wing assembly from the armband. I can't wait for this thing to charge so I can strap it on. I entered my meals so far in the Activity Manager and I also entered my last known weight.
I know I said I would face the scale this morning but I didn't and I didn't want to weigh after breakfast. I will definitely weigh in tomorrow after an early morning walk\jog.

Well I decided to weigh in after all because I wanted to enter my true weight in the Activity Manager on Bodymedia's website. I was shocked to see 194.8lbs. I thought for sure my weight was under 190lbs but I will see tomorrow when I weigh first thing in the morning.

I got over the shock of the scale and got back to being excited about my gadget. I love it already. I can see up-to-date calorie burn and steps taken and I am just ecstatic. I know the novelty will eventually wear off but unlike the other things I bought, this one is simply no fuss, it just provides the information. The rest is up to me.

Although I didn't get everything up and running until after 12 noon, I still wanted to hit all my targets as if I started when I got out of bed. I am proud to say I did my 10,000 steps and had a calorie deficit of more than 1000. I would love to have a calorie deficit of 3500 which would translate into 1 pound loss per day but I would have to work out for hours to achieve that goal. Four pounds per week on a consistent basis will still get the job done.

Still waiting on my miracle

I thought for sure the package would be in my mailbox today, but here's to hoping it will be here tomorrow. I downloaded and installed Bodymedia SYNC so I can get started as soon as the mailman comes.
I am currently on day 31 of P90X Lean Program and Day 3 of Insanity. I have owned the DVDs for quite a while, perhaps almost two years but have never completed one 90-day cycle (60 for Insanity). When I purchased most of my DVDs, I still had a gym membership but since my gym membership expired December 31, 2009, I will now use all my DVDs, kettlebells, dumbbells, pullup bar, and all the other little gadgets I collected over the years.
I am determined not to purchase anything else fitness related. I will only use what I already own. I will only buy the good clean foods that I need to live. Diet will take over 90% of my focus because I can't get away with anything processed. Every bad diet decision sets me back so I will need laser-like focus on that front.
I will weigh in before I begin using my gadget. I am dreading facing the scale.

Waiting on my miracle

I can't stop thinking of this gadget I decided to purchase. I know it's just a system that provides the numbers but just being able to see it in print, is all the assistance I need. I have never been afraid of exercise. I love to workout and have always known that one has to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. I have also created an elaborate excel workbook to record my calories and workouts; however, I need to know how many calories I am burning so I can effectively tailor the calories I am consuming.

Tired of being tired

At my fittest I was 118lbs and solid as a rock. I arrived at that fitness level because I was living and working in another state and completely isolated. Once I moved back to Florida the weight started creeping up. I got busy pursuing my Masters and before long I was 80lbs heavier.

I am 41, ready to go back to work, and I just can't seem to get the pounds off. I have bought tons
of DVDs from late night infomercials and have been on every diet known to man. I have spent so much money on fitness parafernalias I could be retired by now. On March 13th, I decided to make my last fitness purchase. After much research and agony, I purchased the GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System. I paid $259.98 on Amazon, the place where I do most of my damage.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my last purchase but in the mean time I have been making use of my other purchases. This morning I did P90X and Insanity, both at-home workout systems from beach body.
